VegfestUK London: Ready to become a positive voice for veganism?

Posted by Guest on 07/10/16 in VfL News and Events

Most vegans are used to being questioned about their diet and lifestyle by family and friends.

Usually, these questions come thick and fast during mealtimes, with everyone you know suddenly becoming expert nutritionists and philosophers. Who hasn’t been challenged about what you would eat if you were stranded on a desert island? (Why are vegans so prone to this happening?) You’ve probably also been chastised about ‘dangerous vitamin deficiency’ and so on.

If you want great answers to these types of questions, and are keen to promote veganism positively, then you will love two talks that are taking place in the Mature Zone at lunchtime on Saturday 22 October.

At noon, Mike Ashbridge will be talking about humanism, and how its key principles support and encourage veganism. So if you want to be able to discuss veganism in the context of living a good, compassionate and fulfilling life then this is an ideal talk for you.

If you are keen to answer all those nutritional questions confidently, then come along to our panel discussion on nutrition for the over 50s.

We have a highly qualified panel to discuss the key issues and answer your questions. Paul Appleby is Senior Statistician at the Oxford University Nuffield Department of Population Health, and is renowned for his work on long-term studies of the health of vegetarians and vegans. Dr Stephen Walsh is Chair of the Vegan Society and the author of ‘Plant Based Nutrition and Health’. And Heather Russell works for the Vegan Society as their Dietitian.

We’d love you to join us on Saturday for these informative talks… and don’t forget to check out the other fantastic talks we have arranged in the Mature Zone throughout the weekend!
