VegfestUK Scotland 2016: I’ve had my cake and eaten it!

Posted by Kim on 22/11/16 in VfL News and Events

Almost all visitors to VegfestUK will have treated themselves to at least one or two of the naughty but nice cakes and chocolates on offer. And why not, indeed.

For simple everyday food options, though, come and visit the Mature Zone. Our speakers will give you useful tips to help you to get your five a day; guide you through how to make simple creative meals; and provide useful tips on reducing wastage.

Maggie Lister’s talk at 12.00pm on Saturday will focus on reducing food waste saving both pennies and the planet. Many of us throw too much food away, so come along to hear Maggie’s useful tips.

Do you find you don’t include vegetables in your diet? It doesn’t need to be difficult! For ideas and inspiration come and hear Amanda Woodvine’s talk on Sunday at 2.00pm.

If you think that you need to cook like a celebrity chef in order to eat well, think again. We have two talks that demonstrate how easy it can be to cook simple meals that balance your nutritional needs. At 4.00pm on Saturday, Amanda Woodvine discusses real-life vegan meals from a nutritionist’s perspective, and asks whether ready meals and takeaways can be enjoyed as part of a healthy balanced diet. At 3.00pm on Sunday, Maggie Lister will introduce you to an array of tasty creative meals that are simple to produce and are guaranteed to please even those who hate cooking!

The Mature Zone will be at VegfestUK Scotland at SECC Glasgow on 3 and 4 December 2016. See Floor Plan here. Proudly curated and hosted by VfL, the Mature Zone is the go-to-place for all aspects of veganism in later life.
