August News

Posted by Tina on 01/08/13 in VfL News and Events

August was a very significant month - with further meetings to progress the merger with Vegetarian Housing Association. Both organisations formally approved the process, so now it is a question of implementing it. VHA was registered in 1962 and, at one stage, operated 3 sheltered schemes for vegetarians and vegans. Now only 3 individual flats remain - two in N Wales and one in Sheffield – and VfL will take over responsibility for their management. The end of an era - but the formation and subsequent expansion of VfL has started an exciting new one. Amanda attended the National Association of Care Catering event for the Midlands - and she has been asked to give a presentation at a future event. At the Age Scotland Assembly in New Lanark, Tina distributed information to delegates and made useful contacts for future work. She also did a short podcast for the Scottish Older People’s Assembly taking place in Edinburgh in December. VfL is looking for a new Treasurer. If you are vegetarian or vegan and interested in this voluntary position please contact Tina at admin@vegetarianforlife.org.uk for details.
