Looking for a full fayre of amazing veggie food, body care, fashion and information, along with entertainment, on a top day out? Make sure to head down to Bristol Amphitheatre on the bank holiday weekend of 23–25 May for VegfestUK – billed as one of Europe’s biggest veggie food festivals. Alan from VegfestUK reports.
Coinciding nicely with National Vegetarian Week in May, VegfestUK Bristol ticks many boxes both as an eat-all-day event and as a source of inspiration and education on eating a more plant-based diet. This outdoor festival has attracted 20,000–25,000 visitors in each of the last 2 years and is the gospel of many in the veggie, vegan and healthy living circles. From 11am–6pm on Saturday and Sunday, the event focuses on food and education – spoil yourselves with 140 stalls with 12 specialist caterers serving a range of global cuisine. Many of these stalls are laden with free samples and one-off special discounts so don’t miss the opportunity to stock up on your favourite products! For the health-conscious, there’re dozens of talks, cookery demos, workshops, kids cookery classes, and short films on the benefits of incorporating more plant foods into our diets. There’s still time for top entertainment for all ages, from hoola hoops, clay modelling, art and craft, a smoothie bike, dressing up, all-day bars, comedy hours as well as musicians. Attention then shifts to some seriously cool headline music after 6pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This year’s headline music is a throwback to 70’s and 80’s disco, punk and reggae, with the following acts:
  • Boney M ft. Maizie Williams, Gwen Dickey’s Rose Royce, Abba Gold on Friday
  • Peter Hook and the Light, Ruts D.C., Goldblade on Saturday
  • Zion Train, Black Roots on Sunday
Admission to the daytime part of the show is £3 for adults and free for kids under 16, so make sure to bring your whole families along. Full admission info and advance tickets for the evening headline gigs are available at www.bristol.vegfest.co.uk/ticket-information Currently there’re still BUY ONE GET ONE HALF PRICE offers available for the Friday and Saturday concerts, but not for long, so don’t miss out!
