The last few weeks have certainly been a testing time for people all over the world.
The UK has sadly felt the impact of COVID-19 over recent days, but it has been inspiring to see people sticking together to help those in need.
From volunteers doing food runs, through to ‘social distancing’ neighbourhood parties, we’ve seen communities and businesses banding together in lots of uplifting ways in a truly challenging time.
We know, however, that there are those still in need. Those who may be struggling to do their food shop can find themselves in a difficult position should they be a vegetarian or vegan, especially if the products that they normally eat are scarce.
Add to that those who may be vegetarian or vegan with allergies and intolerances, and it’s easy to understand the difficulties they are facing through other people stockpiling supermarket products. Perhaps you know someone like this. Perhaps you are this person.
Thankfully some fantastic food delivery services are still working around the clock to make sure no one has to go without. We’ve spoken to several of the food providers in our recent Veggie Meals to your Door publication to see what options are currently available for those unable to get to the shops.
These are all companies that offer a vegetarian and/or vegan option with home delivery.
UK-wide
Gourmade
Gourmade is delivering 6 days a week, where possible, and is offering 20% off to new customers placing a delivery over £60.
NHS staff are also entitled to £20 off orders over £60.

Bidfood is a food supplier and wholesaler that has recently expanded its services to offer a home delivery and click and collect option.
Having recently released a dedicated vegan brochure, Bidfood could be a great option for vegans who are struggling for groceries.

New Norm

Wiltshire Farm Foods

North Wales
Easy Living Meals On Wheels
Easy Living is a leading name in the provision of Meals on Wheels to the doorsteps of the local communities across North Wales.
It is currently offering all customers a free trial meal, which is available with no obligation to order. This gives customers a chance to try the meal, but also meet their delivery driver (in this case 2 metres away!) and get an idea of how the service works.
Although some ingredients are not available because current restrictions, Easy Living is still delivering from its varied menu.

Huddersfield, Elland and Brighouse
Dabbawala
Dabbawala is a Yorkshire-based food delivery company offering a Meals on Wheels service.
It is currently operating as usual but has extended its delivery area to the whole of Huddersfield, Elland and Brighouse.

Shambhu’s
Shambhu’s is a London-based vegan food delivery and catering service.
It is currently offering deliveries in the London area and has adapted its usual £100 minimum order to be able to offer smaller orders for those in need.
