Satpal Kambo, Chef Manager at Garden City Court, Quantum Care
At Garden City Court, part of Quantum Care, Chef Manager Satpal Kambo has led the way in transforming plant-based dining for residents. Her creativity and commitment were recognised nationally when she was named Vegetarian for Life’s 2025 Vegan/Vegetarian Care and Hospital Caterer of the Year – an award that celebrates innovation, inclusion, and compassion in care catering.
Satpal’s approach has brought fresh energy to mealtimes at Garden City Court. Menus are shaped collaboratively through monthly meetings and tasting sessions, ensuring residents have a genuine voice in their dining experience. What began as a simple monthly lunch club has evolved into a much-anticipated weekly highlight, featuring imaginative dishes such as soya chilli with sweet potato chips, cauliflower kebabs with homemade chutney, and cinnamon butternut squash doughnuts.
Her colleague, Donna Steeden, explains, ‘These sessions have really changed the atmosphere around food. Residents look forward to them, and their ideas are at the heart of what we serve.’
The spirit of inclusion extends beyond residents themselves. Relatives and friends are invited to share in the experience through Family & Friends Evenings, which regularly attract more than 35 guests who come together to enjoy a fully plant-based menu. These gatherings not only showcase Satpal’s culinary creativity but also celebrate community, conversation, and shared enjoyment.
Satpal’s work embodies Quantum Care’s commitment to resident choice and wellbeing – demonstrating how thoughtful, innovative catering can bring people together and make every mealtime something special.
