Ingredients
2 cooking apples
2 tsp golden syrup
1 teaspoon lemon peel, grated
2 knobs of butter or vegan margarine*
1 tbsp warm water
Instructions
Remove core from apples to about 2/3rd of the way down (from top).
Score a line around each apple with sharp knife about 1/3rd of way down from top.
Mix syrup with lemon peel and spoon into cavity in apples, with apples standing in small baking dish, and top each with knob of butter or margarine.
Put warm water into dish and bake at 180°C/350°F/gas mark 4 for around 45 minutes until tender, basting a couple of times during the baking.
Serve with cream, soya cream, natural yoghurt, natural soya yoghurt or custard.
