We love hearing feedback from people we’ve supported – it lets us know that we’re on the right track! You can read some of the highlights here.

As a Vegetarian for Life UK List member, we know that the support is there. Not only that, but we’ve had the opportunity to enter the Vegetarian for Life Awards for Excellence in Vegetarian Care Catering. In 2020, our chef Gary McGurk won ‘Most Innovative Veggie Dish’ for his pan-seared watermelon. We also regularly share content online, but being a member of the UK List has really helped us gain more publicity in the local area. Our social media posts around our membership have the most ‘shares’ and ‘likes’ out of all our content.

You get excellent support through Vegetarian for Life. The visiting chefs are a godsend. Most chefs don’t know a lot about veggie cooking because it’s not something you learn. What elements you need for a full, balanced veggie meal, protein, and other considerations – I’ve learned all of that. Anyone can put together a cauliflower cheese but it’s the more innovative dishes that I’ve learned, such as vegan mac and cheese using nutritional yeast. It’s been a revelation.

The fact Vegetarian for Life is tailored to care homes makes things so easy. Publications are especially good, and the Annual Awards for Excellence in Vegetarian Care Catering really help to inspire others. What’s more, the Vegetarian for Life team is so helpful and positive, and has recipes for a balanced diet that extend beyond cheese.

Thank you so much for the great vegetarian cookery demo last week, I think it went down very well with our group, lots of engagement and good questions. The salad and pesto were wonderful too!

Tina Wood, Masbro Centre

Thank you once again for such a lovely session.  That bowl of chilli looked great, I will make that for the weekend, for sure. Everyone really enjoyed the session and loved your friendly (but still professional) presentation, and all of the helpful tips you gave.  It was a really lovely, entertaining and enjoyable afternoon.

That sounds exactly like something I'd like to get involved in, something to keep my mind active

I have been veggie most of my life and I have been vegan for the past 10ish years. It is really great to be a part of a mature vegan group, it seems to me viewing other groups, there are a lot of young vegans out there (which is brilliant ) but I was feeling rather alone (at 63). It's nice to be part of a community.

I'm a vegan, and regularly cook for my mum in law, who eats better in company. I can now make 'traditional' dishes for her, me & my husband but make it vegan. One lot of cooking! Great! She actually likes the vegan meals, your book shows that it’s not difficult to swap the meat for something veg*n.

Excellent afternoon. Thank you to VfL for convening such a wonderful group of people to discuss issues relating to diet and identity in care.

This is excellent service - thank you!

It’s great to read about this all too rare actual example of how the dietary and lifestyle choices of vegetarians and vegans should be respected by people caring for them. As a lifelong vegetarian I’m terrified that I may one day be unable to cook and shop for myself and be at the mercy of people with no understanding of how important being a vegetarian is to me. Examples like this give me hope! Keep up the great work, it is really appreciated.
