It’s International Volunteer Day on 5 December and a fantastic opportunity to celebrate volunteers around the world and champion the amazing work they do.
Here at VfL, we’re proud to have our own loyal team of volunteers. Known to us as Friends, they're the backbone of the charity. They help us in a variety of ways including distributing our publications, helping our chefs at demonstrations and events, writing blogs for our website, and writing letters to vegan and vegetarian care home residents on our UK List.
We are delighted to celebrate this special day by paying tribute to the brilliant work our Friends do. You are at the core of helping us to improve the lives of older vegans and vegetarians and we want to say a huge THANK YOU to each and every one of you!
One Friend told us that she had been shopping for an older gentleman in her community. However, he has since been helped to learn how to do a regular online supermarket delivery, so he does not need her to do this so much these days. She now phones him regularly instead and says that they both really enjoy it and chat for over an hour at a time!
