VfL chef trains the next generation

Trainee chefs at Wakefield College took a lesson in veggie cookery from Vegetarian for Life (VfL) Roving Chef Alex recently.

VfL offers courses for all levels of learner to put them on the right path to becoming a successful cook with an all-round plant-based repertoire. Alex has visited the college in recent years to ensure the next generation of caterers is fully versed in the requirements of vegan and vegetarian diets.

“The sessions always go down well,” said Alex. “I start with an interactive quiz and information about catering for vegetarians and vegans.”

Alex delivered a cookery demonstration, which included a demonstration of Pad Thai and sweet and sour Quorn.

The students then worked in pairs to recreate the sweet and sour Quorn, and make a sumptuous sticky toffee pudding.

If you know a facility that would be interested in caterer training, contact VfL on 0161 257 0887 or fill out our online enquiry form here.
