As part of its Eat Well Live Well programme, Age UK in Barnet provided the venue for a cookery demonstration by VfL Roving Chef, Ollie. The charity aims to improve the health and diet of older people in the area, and the session featured healthy veggie food cooked from scratch.
Ollie has hosted many sessions for Age UK at locations around London, and emphasises the importance of a healthy diet among older people. “It's very important to eat well, especially in your later years,” he says. “People come away from these sessions with fresh ideas about using fresh ingredients in the kitchen.”
Ollie hosted a small group of eight people for the demonstration in Barnet, which gave participants plenty of hands-on experience. Ollie demonstrated root vegetable tagine with flatbreads, and chocolate mousse for dessert.
Following the demonstration, participants had the opportunity to eat together and socialise.
